You know what can go up and down like the temperature in a Tennessee winter? Your grades at midterm. Stop this madness with some free NHS tutoring from Matthew Charles, Declan Foran, and Joseph Broughton from 3:15 to 3:50 in the Counseling Center on Tuesday. (Tu) – K. Senter

 

Students who have registered to take the AMC 12 A Exam on Thursday, February 7, 2019 will need to be in the Amphitheatre at 7:40 am.  You will need to bring #2 pencils. You are allowed to use protractors, rulers, scratch, or graph paper.  No calculators, phones, or electronics are allowed during testing. Your Math teacher has the list of students that have registered.  Attendance will be taken. (Tu) – J. Zimprich

 

How would you like to be a part of a citywide plan for the future of Oak Ridge.  You can be a part of this process.  Blueprint will be meeting here at ORHS TODAY, Tuesday, February 5, from 3:30 – 5:30 in the Food Court area.

“Blueprint” is a citywide plan for the future of Oak Ridge. The formation of the plan is led by the Municipal Planning Commission, with input and involvement from the entire community, including residents, businesses, and property owners. Generally, a citywide plan prepares for future population change or growth and its anticipated impacts to the community, in order to ensure that the City can achieve desired goals for the built environment, community services, economic health, and quality of living. If you are interested in attending this year’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering program at Y-12, stop by student services to pick up a permission form. The trip is Thursday, February 21, from 8:30 to 12:00. Return your permission form to student services by February 19. Space is limited and you must be in good standing to attend. COUNSELING INFO

 

Applications are being accepted for the “Cottey College Summer Workshop” in Nevada, Missouri June 16-21, 2019.  Participants will have FUN while learning how to succeed in today’s fast-paced world, and will experience college life prior to high school graduation.This scholarship pays 100% tuition, lodging, food as well as travel expenses up to $500 at the Cottey College program. If interested, please see your school counselor for the application. The deadline to turn in the application is February 15th (M) – K. Rowland

JUNIORS: There will a very important informational meeting for the Boys and Girls State programs next Tuesday, February 12th at 3:15 in the College & Career Room in the Counseling office. These programs are exceptional programs to attend and each state has their own version so colleges are very aware of the leadership, citizenship and civics education you will receive at these programs. Criteria includes: high moral character, leadership, academic excellence, interest in government, community participation, show respect for God and country and be willing to pledge allegiance to the American flag and you must be able to stay for the duration of the week.

Boys State will be at Tennessee Tech University Sunday, May 19th-Saturday, May 25th and Girls State is held at Lipscomb University in Nashville on Sunday, May 26th –Saturday, June 1st.

East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) is happy to announce that ETF 2019 Scholarship Applications will be available on our website, www.etf.org/scholarships, beginning November 1, 2018.  All ETF scholarship applications must be completed and submitted online. The application deadline for 2019 scholarships is February 15, 2019. (Tu – 2.15)  A. Morris
