Halloween Dance this Saturday 7-10:30 in B-gym. There will be – Halloween costume prizes, free food, a DJ and a raffle drawing for those who buy tickets this week during lunch. $5 in advance or at the door. BE there or BEWARE! (Tu, Th) – D. Sobek

Oak Ridge High School will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23-27 to raise awareness and prevent drug use in our school and in the Oak Ridge community. DID YOU KNOW – Did you know marijuana can reduce thinking, memory, and learning functions and affect how the brain builds connections between the areas necessary for these functions? The PSAT test will be on Wednesday, October 25th.  Testing room rosters will be posted outside of the counseling office, outside of the library and by the bus loop on Tuesday. This test is only for 10th and 11th graders that registered to take the PSAT. (10/20-10/24) – B. Ottinger

Students: Jostens class ring packets are available in CS347. Jostens will return to take class ring orders November 1st and 2nd. A $50 deposit is required to order. They will be located in the Main Lobby and the Concessions’ Kiosk during lunch. Any student may order a class ring regardless of grade level. (10/24, 10/26, 10/30) – T. Ledden

 COUNSELING INFO

The National Youth Science Camp is a residential science education program for young STEM enthusiasts the summer after they graduate from high school. Students from around the country (two are selected to represent each state and Washington, D.C.) are challenged academically in exciting lectures and hands-on studies, and have voluntary opportunities to participate in an outdoor adventure program, gain a new and deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and establish friendships that last a lifetime.  CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO

Branching Out will meet on Thursday after school in CS336 to continue judging the story contest. Please note the change of meeting time. (10/24, 10/26) – J. Sasser

Youth for Christ is moving to a new time. Same place—LC330, Mr. Senter’s room—but come bring your bag lunch on Wednesdays starting this Wednesday, October 25th for student-led Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. Check out the national Youth for Christ web site for our statement of faith, and consider a lunch with a punch to boost you through the weeks ahead. (10/24-10/25) – K. Senter

Those seniors with a 3.6 cumulative GPA who would like to be considered for membership in National Honor Society must pick up a Verification of Interest form from Mrs. Milloway in the Library. Seniors applying to UT-Chattanooga- save money on the application fee by attending UTC’s Moc Minute on Tuesday night, October 17th at Calhoun’s on the River in Knoxville from 4:30-7:30! Light refreshments and give aways are included! You must complete their application prior to attending this event but DO NOT PAY THE FEE!! Hit “submit” without paying the fee. Seniors: Jostens will return Wednesday and Thursday, November 1-2, to take orders for graduation supplies. They will be located in the Main Lobby and the Concessions’ Kiosk during lunch. If all you want to order is the cap, gown, and tassel set, you do not have to pay anything now but you must place the order. If you order other supplies, you must make a $60 deposit.
