On Saturday, March 4th, Woodland Elementary Chess Club competed in the regional tournament at Lenoir City High School. We were represented in 2 divisions: Elementary (6th grade and younger) and Primary (3rd grade an younger). Both teams did an excellent job competing and are bringing home trophies to place in the trophy case at Woodland.
Our Elementary team, made up of: Gavin Koentop (captain), Isabella Liu, Cailyn Lawson, William Shen, and Joey Gilpin placed 3rd in their division.
Our Primary team, made up of: Joey Gilpin (captain), Michael Guo, Uday Sujithkumar, Tristan Chartrand, and Nolan Riden placed 4th in their division.
Both teams will compete at the state level on March 25th at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN. Congratulations teams!
