Discover Magazine
This site would be a good place to find articles for older elementary students.

Kids Ahead
This site, which is a division of National Geographic, includes online articles for a variety of science topics.

Lexile Framework for Reading
This site allows teachers or students to search for books in alignment with their Lexile scores. It also has a free Lexile analyzer that teachers can use to assess the level of the articles they might use in a lesson. To access the analyzer, sign up, copy and paste your text into a word document, save it as a plain text file and upload it. The analyzer gives it an instant Lexile score.

Librivox
This site offers free audiobooks that are now in the public domain. It could be a helpful tool for students who have difficulty decoding texts on their own or who enjoy listening to stories.

National Geographic for Kids
A beautiful website that focuses on science and history, students will enjoy this. Though not very indepth, it would make a great place for younger readers or for older readers who need a starting point for a project.

The National Women’s History Project
This site offers info about women in history. If you go to the “Resource Center” tab, you will find many partial and full biographies of famous women.

PARCC Online
This is the official site of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) consortium. It will have the most up-to-date information on these coming assessments for educations as well as released prototypes.

Smithsonian Institution
This site offers a wealth of information for all grade levels. The site contains primary sources as well as links to other sites pertaining to the topic being researched. It is organized under teacher, student and family tabs. The categories are Science & Technology, Arts & Design, History & Culture, and Language Arts.
