Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Students, this is very a very important announcement! A breach in security occurred last week when a student propped open the Wildcat Arena doors with a rock. This allowed two individuals who were not ORHS students to enter the building. Upon their entrance, they proceeded to roam around our facility and make their way to the locker room area where one of our facilities was ransacked and multiple individuals had their personal belongings stolen. PLEASE BE ADVISED, ANYONE propping a door with a rock, the rug, or any object which compromises the security of our building will receive an out of school suspension. In addition, students are not bringing their ID badge to school each day. This is also a hindrance to our security. Lunch detentions will be assigned to individuals who do not have their badge on their person. Please remember your badge gains you access to the building only during certain times of the day: 6:30 am – 7:50 am; 3:06 pm – 3:30 pm (except for Wednesday which is 1:40 pm – 2:10 pm). Random badge checks will begin on Tuesday! (2/28-3/10) – M. McDonald

In order to maintain safety at our school, students and staff should wear their badges to school every day.  Badges should be readily visible.  Beginning the week following Spring Break, staff will conduct badge checks.  At that time, students whose badges are not visible will receive an office referral and a consequence. (3/7-3/28) – A. Henry

Intercession forms are available in the main and counseling offices starting this morning. All sessions are first come, first serve so get those forms in early!! You can return your signed form to the main office through Friday morning. Any student attending intersession next week must bring their own headphones with them. (3/6-3/10) – B. Estep

Tickets for Prom are on sale during lunch in the Kiosk this week. Singles are $30 and Couples are $60.  Get them now before the prices increase to $40 and $80. If your date does not currently attend ORHS please pick up a guest application from Ms. Eidam in LC 313 or in Student Affairs. (3/8-3/10) – S. Eidam

It’s Women’s History Month and the library is honoring women who overcame obstacles to achieve amazing things.  As a young junior fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar, she was fired for being too edgy for the public.  Nevertheless, she persisted.  She stayed in the world of fashion publishing and made her way up through the ranks.  At the age of 38, she was promoted to the pinnacle of her field – specifically because she was edgy and could shake things up. Anna Wintour is now in her 29th year as Editor-in-Chief of “Vogue” magazine.  Come by the library to find out about more trailblazing women who refused to give up. (3/9) – C. Milloway

Any student interested in riding the Pep Bus to the boys’ game next week in Murfreesboro, the sign in sheet and permission slips are in the main office. Ms. Thompson also has a survey on Twitter, stefthompson63.

Dr. Colquitt would like to thank all of the students who participated in the Black History Trivia Questions for the month of February. Each  of you learned more about the history, impact, and contributions of African-Americans to Oak Ridge and to the rest of the world. The top four winners are:
